The Stars In My Sky

Disclaimer: This post is not about disappointments, it is about smiles which also happen to come along with tears.

Once upon a time in a school in a small town, there was a little girl. She was just one of the many students of her class. Neither naughty nor innocent, neither teachers pet nor a pain in their neck..sitting somewhere in the middle, hiding herself.

She was a happy child and had friends too, though never a best friend and how she longed for one.

Enter, new girl.. pink chubby cheeks, lovely shy smile, two long pigtails bouncing when she walked, all that was missing was her angel wings. It was love at first sight; our little girl had found her best friend and she didn't waste any time to tell her that.

Time flew, the girls grew up, went to different cities for higher education. Life was happening all around them, new friends, new emotions, new possibilities, finally job and marriage.

Our little girl knew that her best friend was now a mother of a little princess. They kept in touch but not so much.

Old love and friendships never leave us; they are the foundations of our lives. However, often we get so caught up in building our lives, the skyscrapers of success that the foundations feel too far and too inconvenient to visit.

Many years later our little girl, had a dream about her best friend. She felt this desperate need to go back in time with her friend, to tell her about her dream, to laugh at the old memories, to tell her that she was going to have a child too and hoped their kids would be friends too.

She tried the number she had but no one responded, she checked her FB account but there was no activity, she tried the few friends she knew but no one had a clue where she was.

At last the little girl found her older sister on social media, only to get to know that she was a couple of years too late.

She had lost her best friend in an accident.

We love to say that we are such good friends that we can pick up from where we left off...even after years. What we forget is that we have no clue what is happening in each others life right now to discuss anything new. (I have been told this isn't an entirely original thought but I can assure you I thought of it on my own).

You are missed my love... a lot. Someday we will meet again, laugh together again...till then I will keep you safe, in my heart and my memories.

  1. Sorry for reading this late. As always, I agree with you here as well. Let's transform our thoughts into action for who needs a reason to talk to a friend.
